Afraid and scared
bold and brave
we walk through life so strangely
bound to what we believe
seldom free
tied by the eyes that love us
to suffer their fears
strangely entangled in a knot
conditioned to walk on earth
in water we sink and drown
there is evidence all around
we have no choice
unless we choose
walking barefoot in our shoes
we feel so safe in cozy homes
afraid to step out and live
afraid to step out and give
afraid to step out and die
paralyzed in our tranquility
we make no move
rotting like fungus on the vine
some of us think we are divine
as the clock that does not tick
beats out the rhythm of our life
we stand in paradise
lost beyond horizons
where we dare not gaze or dream
