Color bright and fading

powdered sweet in sugar tones

behold yourself on fire

basking and alone

without more than your own wonder

creating some deep well

in which to throw yourself at last

before the moment comes

when rescue arrives

in your own dramatic hands

You look outside at the weather fair

or stormy a cold night thrashing

and think there is something

sweet or threatening that awaits

the tender footsteps of your tomorrow

so you cower fireside in blankets

or throw yourself into the bliss you dreamed

somehow thinking it all too real

like a knife stabbing pain in your shoulder

or a lovers kiss on a perfect moonlit night

But alas you stand alone in your own hands

surrounded by all you have thought could be

infested by all that you feared

and your pathway home is only three clicks

of ruby red heals away

though you dare not try

for you fear to fail

or lose your nerve

so instead you wallow

or perhaps like a sunrise unexpected

in the hurricane's dark grip

you release and be
